Dakota Fanning has signed on to a new supernatural thriller. The Hollywood Reporter says the flick is called Push, and along with Fanning are Chris Evans, Djimon Hounsou, and Camilla Belle.
Push is about a group of people with telekinetic and clairvoyant powers hiding out from US government agency thugs in Hong Kong. They use their talents to defeat the bad guys and escape. They’re calling the movie “high-concept” but it sounds like a pretty standard, toned down, superhero film. Actually, it sounds a lot like the television shows Heroes or The 4400. Heroes is huge, why not capitalize on it. Originality is long since dead.
Paul McGuigan is set to direct Push. He also directed Lucky Number Slevin and Wicker Park which almost no one saw and those who did seem to have already forgotten about it.
