Dangerfield Gets Respect
All Rodney Dangerfield ever wanted was a little respect. Just his luck, he won’t be alive to witness it.
According to Variety, a biopic about his life is coming to the big screen, based partially on his 2004 autobiography ”It’s Not Easy Bein’ Me”. Producers Howard and Karen Baldwin have obtained the rights from Dangerfield’s widow Joan, and will produce the picture through their Baldwin Entertainment Group.
Best known as a stand-up comedian with self-deprecating humor, Dangerfield may have talked more about his limp noodle than any of us cared to hear about or envision. But his flair for poking fun at himself and his shortcomings just made people gravitate towards him.
“Rodney took the indignities of everyday life and spun them into golden one-liners that endeared him to millions around the world,” Joan Dangerfield said. "But while he was making everyone forget their troubles by laughing at his, Rodney's own life was a heavy-hearted one." Laughter is the best medicine, just ask Patch Adams.
