Dark Knight Infects The Web With Viral Sites

I’m always hesitant to report on “viral marketing” sites for movies because half the time they are either unrelated (what was that weird game everyone thought was tied to Cloverfield anyway?) or fan made (remember the Watchmen controversy?). Still, these look legitimate enough and are definitely tied to the upcoming Dark Knight movie, so here we go.

Five viral sites have appeared online tied to The Dark Knight. These are on top of the ones that already exist, such as I Believe in Harvey Dent and I Believe in Harvey Dent Too, the Joker follow up.

First we have an online version of The Gotham Times which has four pages of news stories and advertisements. I haven’t gotten to reading all of the stories, but it’s pretty well assembled. The front page has a tear on it, however, and if you pull back the tear, what is revealed beneath takes you to The Ha Ha Times. Like Joker’s response to Harvey Dent, The Ha Ha Times is a Joker altered version of The Gotham Times.

The three other sites tie into stories reported in The Gotham Times. We Are The Answer is a site for citizens to report crooked cops. Remembering Gina is a memorial site for a young girl who has passed away (a story that caught my eye in the Gotham Times). Finally, Gotham National Bank is a site for, what else, the Gotham Bank. Something tells me to keep an eye on that last one for the Joker’s next touch.

So, all together now, the new sites are:

The Gotham Times

The Ha Ha Times

We Are The Answer

Remembering Gina

Gotham National Bank

Thanks to First Showing who made us aware of the first two and JoBlo who had the rest listed.
