New Dark Knight Rises Clip Shows Us JGL's John Blake
It’s still unclear how large of a role Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play in The Dark Knight Rises, but now we know he’ll at least get a chance to spar with Gary Oldman. In a brand new clip debuted last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, JGL’s John Blake is seen confronting Commissioner Gordon about Batman’s real identity. He has questions, big questions on the eighth anniversary of Batman’s disappearance and Harvey Dent’s death, and while Gordon knows some of the answers, he’s not excited about sharing.
You can take a look at the roughly thirty second spot below…
The great thing about the interaction here is the contrast between the beaten down Gordon and the full-of-energy Blake. The former has battled all his life. He’s seen both allies and foes rise to the top of Gotham, and while he hasn’t given up hope, he’s definitely tired. The latter, on the other hand, is hungry and ready to question. He’s seen less, which, in a way, makes him more powerful.
Where any of this is going or who Blake might turn into are questions the Internet has been wrestling with for months. Unfortunately for those dying to know, this footage didn’t clear any of those queries up, but hopefully, it did at least make you a little more excited to find out later this month.
If you’re looking to get more of a Batman fix, check back in all week as we revisit all of the Caped Crusader’s former films. You can check out Batman here and Batman Returns here.
