Marvel is working to unite their most popular characters in an Avengers movie somewhere around 2012, and DC isn't about to just sit back and watch it happen. No, Justice League doesn't seem any closer to happening, but David Goyer-- who co-wrote the recent Batman movies, remember-- wants to unite some DC villains in his prison film, Super Max.

He's been talking up the film for years, but in a recent interview with MTV's Splash Page, Goyer promised the project is still making progress. "We're working on that. We're about to bring on another writer. Obviously, Warner Bros. is now heavily into mining all of the various DC properties."

The film would find the heroic Green Arrow locked up behind bars, and forced to team up with rogues like The Riddler, Lex Luthor and The Joker. It's an idea that sounds awesome, which of course means it's going to be in development forever. Goyer wouldn't make any promises as to when the thing would actually happen, only saying "It's definitely something we're developing." So odds are we'll still see the Avengers movie before Super Max happens, but that doesn't mean we can't hope for it in the meantime.
