David Hyde Pierce Goes Insane In First Trailer For The Perfect Host
When someone mentions the name "David Hyde Pierce," everyone thinks the exact same thing: he's the whiter-than-white guy with perfect diction who played Niles on Frasier. But after decades of creating an impression like that, it becomes even more fun to play with expectation. Enter The Perfect Host.
Apple has posted the first trailer for the thriller that will hence forth be known as "the movie where David Hyde Pierce loses his shit." In the film, a criminal being hunted by the police (Clayne Crawford) cons his way into the house of a middle-aged man who is preparing to throw a dinner party (Hyde Pierce). What the criminal doesn't know, however, is that his host is batshit nuts and ends up drugging him and taking him hostage.

I think what I like best about this trailer is that I have no idea who we are going to end up rooting for. Both of the main characters seem to be bad people, so do we cheer for the criminally insane or or the one who is just plain ol' insane? I'm also kind of surprised how funny it looks, especially when you consider how creepy the poster is. Let's hope this one doesn't disappoint.
