The Deadpool Super Bowl Trailer Is Hilarious, Watch It Now

Hello, Super Bowl Audience. Meet Deadpool. There's only a few more days until Marvel Comics' Merc With A Mouth arrives in theaters, but now he's come around for a new TV spot - this time taking aim at some of the more irresponsible members of the professional athlete community. Give the new video a gander below!

This Super Bowl TV spot for Deadpool is admittedly tame when compared to the numerous red-band trailers that have been released in recent months, but the lack of curse words, nudity, and in-your-face violence doesn't do anything to dull the anti-hero's wit. In between footage of the red-and-black-suited mercenary kicking ass and taking names, he takes a pretty direct shot at the stars of the National Football League and other major sports - "admiring" them for their ability to have children all over the world.

Of course, professional athletes probably shouldn’t get too upset about Deadpool’s words here. After all, the guy has proven many, many times recently that he is an equal opportunity offender. Trailers for the film have featured swipes at Rosie O’Donnell and the X-Men, and one viral video even took the entire nation of Australia down a peg or two:

Certainly also helping Deadpool’s case is the fact that he’s kind of the man of the moment right now. The review embargo on the movie ended at midnight last night, and the film has been receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews, with critics applauding Ryan Reynolds’ hilariously great performance in the titular role, and the unconventional approach to superhero storytelling. I was one of those critics who unleashed their thoughts to the world last night, and I urge all of you to buy your tickets now, as you will not leave the theater disappointed.

Deadpool tells the story of Wade Wilson, an ex-special forces soldier turned mercenary who starts to see his life slip away when diagnosed with cancer in his liver, lungs, prostate and brain. Not yet ready to die and let go of the love of his life, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), he enlists in a super-secret government program that promises to turn him into a superhero… but the organization really wants to turn him into a super slave. Escaping with horrifically damaged skin and an incredible healing factor, Wade transforms sews himself a costume, becomes Deadpool, and goes hunting for the doctor (Ed Skrein) responsible for destroying his life.

Deadpool co-stars Gina Carano, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, and Stefan Kapicic, and will be out in theaters this Friday, February 12th.
