Death Becomes Garner

Movies have latched onto a new favorable trend-- death. And not the 'blow up every building' action packed kind of homocides. Instead, people die, and before you know it, they're back... criticizing your haircut and sharing a bag of Tostitos.

According to FilmStew, Jennifer Garner will be producing and starring in a remake of Be With You for Warner Bros Pictures. The original was a hit smash in Japan, directed by Nobuhiro Doi based on the novel by Takuji Ichikawa. The story is about a woman on her deathbed who tells her husband and young son not to cry too hard because she will be reunited with them soon. Fast forward a year later, and the husband and son encounter a mysterious stranger who bears a strong resemblance to the woman they lost. Isn't it ironic, oh don't ya think?

Garner will play the lead role and produce the film under her company Vandalia Films. The film was successful in Japan in 2004, so they really didn't waste any time jumping on the remake. I am finding the questionable reincarnation theme fairly tired by now. Apparentely P.S. and Birth were so astounding that films like them should be copied and regurgitated as frequently as possible.

And so it goes, there is nothing new under the sun. Especially in Hollywood.
