Downey Talks To Saints
With the critical success of Millions, the boys who talk to imaginary saints genre is exploding. I think I’m going to be ill.
The latest lets talk to saints movie is adapted from the autobiography “A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints” and according to Production Weekly Robert Downy Jr. has signed up to star. He’s uniquely qualified, having no doubt had his share of hallucinations while out of his head on heavy cocktails of illegal drugs. If there’s anyone out there who knows what it’s like to talk to things that don’t exist, it’s probably Robert Downy Jr.
The book is the story of a boy growing up in 1980’s Astoria and watching his friends drop dead, go to prison, and end up on drugs. Rather than consider that perhaps he’s simply been running with a bad crowd, he turns to religion and deludes himself into thinking he’s been saved from their fate by various saints. Downey will play the lead character as an adult looking back over his life.
