Draw Your Own Gort

Gort is probably the country's most popular robot after Wall-E, which is especially impressive given that his movie hasn't even come out yet. OK, he made his debut in the original The Day the Earth Stood Still in 1951, but the reason for the Gort frenzy right now is the remake, which comes out December 12. The trailers have focused mostly on Klaatu, the alien played by Keanu Reeves, and token human Jennifer Connelly, but the Gort-centric promotion is happening online.

At the movie's official website, fans are encouraged to send in their own drawings of that they think Gort should look like. We've gotten brief glimpses of him in the trailer, but there's enough room for imagination to make these drawings very different from each other. Of course, it's not like the people making the movie will actually take any of these suggestions-- Gort's look was presumably determined months if not years ago. But fans of the original movie will probably enjoy it, and Fox will enjoy the small amount of excitement it drums up for their big holiday tentpole.
