EXCLUSIVE: Occult Cowboys Ride The Range
Here’s a genre that doesn’t get mined enough: supernatural westerns. Sure, every now and then we stumble across the occasional vampire cattle drive movie production rumor, but nothing worthwhile ever comes of it. Call me crazy, but cowboys and the occult seem like a perfect fit. The old west is naturally creepy.
If you agree, then keep an eye out for Between the Sand and the Sky, a supernatural western directed by Pirates of the Caribbean first A.D. David H. Venghaus Jr. It’s written by and stars Chris Showerman, the guy some of you might remember as one of the front runners for the role of Flash Gordon in the upcoming Sci-Fi channel TV series of the same name. When not busy battling Ming the Merciless, Showerman will be wandering his way through the last days of the wild west of with the help of a few guardian angels to get back to the woman he loves.
Between the Sand and the Sky is still in production, so it’ll be awhile before you can see it. In the meanwhile, the film’s producers Clint Morris, Chris Showerman, and Muse Watson have sent us the first image seen anywhere from the movie. It’s Showerman doing his cowboy thing as lead character Lorin Sheffield. I hope you weren’t expecting to see him dressed as a computer hacker. Check out the still below:
