Edgar Wright Talks About His Plan To Bring Comedy To Ant-Man
Though Ant-Man hasn't been included in Marvel's big plans for individual superhero movies tied together in The Avengers, Edgar Wright is still working on a script with plans to direct the film at some point, presumably once Scott Pilgrim vs. the World opens in August and he has a chance to focus on another kind of comic book hero. But as Wright does the press rounds for Pilgrim, of course, the Ant-Man questions come up, and he at least has a few updates about where the script is headed.
Talking to Box Office Magazine, Wright said he's on the verge of starting a second draft, but spoke about what Marvel cottoned to in his first go-round:
Comparing a superhero project to Iron Man is basically like sprinkling pixie dust, of course, and Wright knows it. The difference with him is that we should actually trust him to combine superheroes and humor in a successful way. Wright has proven repeatedly that he's a genius for working with genre and comedy simultaneously, and his Ant-Man movie will doubtlessly be worth looking forward to. Now if Scott Pilgrim could just finally come out so we can move on to the next step.
