No matter what I write in this article, all you will have read is “Eliza Dushku is dead sexy.” Even though I’ll never have said that. It’s okay, though. Some actresses just have that affect on people. Fortunately for her, Dushku has been able to outperform her undeniable good looks lately in her Joss Whedon powered series, Dollhouse.
She’ll be looking to continue her new track record of high quality material in a new film, The Valediction. Dushku revealed details of the plot to MTV recently, stating, “It’s about this young couple and they have a 6-year-old daughter, seemingly in a coma, but [they learn] she’s actually alive and fully living out in her brain, but is just in this locked-in state.” She continues, “So he’s trying to have his daughter wake up from this traumatic experience.”
That’s not all though! Apparently the car crash, which causes the couple’s daughter to go into a coma, isn’t all it looks to be. What? No way! Yes way. The movie is being sold as a “psychological thriller,” meaning there will be a big forced plot twist at the end to induce gasps. Dushku will play Renee, a woman who the husband had an affair with and reconnected with just prior to his daughter’s crash.
Sounds a lot like The Diving Bell and the Butterfly on crack to me. I fall for Dushku’s beauty just as much as anyone else, but that beauty doesn’t jam my sense of good art, and this sounds like quite the opposite. I’d rather just wait for another season of Echo and Dollhouse.
