The Enterprise Soars Through Space In New Star Trek Into Darkness IMAX Poster
Some great artwork has come out of IMAX's 12:01 poster series. I personally have both the Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and John Carter pieces up in my apartment, while we've seen some cool designs for movies like The Dark Knight Rises and the upcoming Iron Man 3. Now, however, IMAX is taking another move in the artwork game, and it begins with the new poster for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness that you see above.
The company has announced on their official website that they are launching what is called IMAX FANFIX, a special new series to be held at participating IMAX theaters nationwide. For the new Star Trek movie, IMAX theaters will be hosting early screenings of the new film on May 15th at 8:00pm (two days before its wide release in the US) and those who arrive early will receive a copy of the poster you see above (which was illustrated by artist Mark Englert). You can find your nearest participating theater my clicking this link.
The follow-up to Abrams' 2009 reboot, Star Trek Into Darkness finds Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) and the rest of the Enterprise crew on a mission to find the man responsible for a devastating attack on Star Fleet (Benedict Cumberbatch). The mission, however, tests Kirk in every way imaginable, and tests what he is willing to sacrifice for the people he truly cares about. The sequel sees the return of Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, and John Cho as their characters from the last movie and in addition to Cumberbatch adds Alice Eve and Peter Weller.
