Even Cowboys Get The Blues
Director Craig Brewer scored lots of bling-bling and won acclaim for his crowd-pleasing pimp anthem Hustle & Flow. Variety reports that he is back with Paramount for his next project, only this time around he is trading in do-rags for cowboy hats.
Next up will be a country-music drama called Maggie Lynn, which Brewer will write and direct. The story trails a woman who ”gets her heart broken and achieves a sense of self-worth by returning home to Tennessee, where she teams with her older brother to play country music in honkytonks.” The film fits with Brewer’s plan to make movies about different types of music from his home state. He took on Memphis Rap in Hustle, and just finished making Black Snake Moan, starring Samuel L. Jackson, which tackles blues music.
Brewer hopes to be in production before the year wraps up.
