Exclusive Anchorman 2 Digital Extra Reveals Green Screen Secrets
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is headed onto Digital platforms tomorrow. We’ve already given audiences the rundown of the lengthy list of extras Paramount Home Media Distribution is including with the release. But if you’d like to get a sneak peak at one of those entertaining segments, you can check out the exclusive "Green Screen" clip, above.
Anchorman 2 is very much a movie about getting the band back together. Since the events in Anchorman, Ron Burgandy (Will Ferrell), Champ Kind (David Koechner), Brian Fontana (Paul Rudd) and Brick Tamland (Steve Carrel) have parted ways. However, during the course of the movie, the team reunites, leading to many amusing moments like the one above. In one scene, Carrel shows up on the set of GNN to do the latest weather report. However, he’s wearing a suit of the same color green as the green screen typically uses, leading into a hilarious wardrobe malfunction.
In the scene, Brick appears pants-less during the newscast. As he’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, he panics, screaming about how he doesn’t have any legs. Ron tries to reassure him, but he is too overwhelmed to function properly. It’s an amusing concept—one that probably wouldn’t have worked if Brick wasn’t a character in the franchise. While the scene looks like one built around post-production work, during the clip, we get to see that the scene was shot live, with Brick really wearing those ridiculous lime green pants. The crew used a real setup that a weather newscast would use, and voila, movie magic was made.
Special effects extras aren’t typically the sort of bonus features audiences see with comedy sets. However, Anchorman 2’s Blu-ray and Digital releases should offer a little something for everyone. There are the extras we might expect, including deleted and alternate scenes, multiple gag reels and audio commentary. Additionally, the film will be available in both the theatrical and unrated versions on Digital, while Blu-ray copies of the film will sport an additional version of the film—the Super-sized R-rated Version, that was recently released back into theaters. Blu-ray and DVD copies of the film will hit the market on April 1.
Digital retailers often offer different bonus features with sets, but you can check out the completed list of Blu-ray extras, below.
