Exclusive Empire State Behind-The-Scenes Clip Talks To The Real Chris Potamitis
The VOD release of Empire State comes with some great extra content.
Empire State is based on the true story of one of the biggest heists in U.S. history, and what better way to celebrate today’s big VOD release for the film than to hear from one of the guys originally behind the big heist? In the exclusive clip, heist master Chris Potamitis—one of the real men behind the 1982 crime—explains how he first got the job at the Empire State security firm, and how it just so happened that he grew nosy while working there.
Empire State was directed by Dito Montiel, the man behind the film A Guide To Recognizing your Saints. His last film, The Son of No One didn’t do so well theatrically, and Lionsgate Home Entertainment opted to put Empire State on a VOD release schedule, with a Blu-ray and DVD release following next Tuesday, September 3. Just because the film is hitting VOD instead of theaters doesn’t mean it won’t be worth your time. The flick is based on a script by and stars The Hunger Games’ Liam Hemsworth, Pain & Gain’s Dwayne Johnson, We Are the Millers' Emma Roberts, and Twilight’s Nikki Reed, Haywire’s Michael Angarano, and Entourage’s Jerry Ferrara. That’s a whole lot of talent crammed into less than two hours of film.
It’s hard to believe a movie starring Johnson wouldn’t pull in at least a few eyeballs, especially a movie featuring Johnson as a good guy cop on the trail of two childhood friends who have planned the robbery of a lifetime. Hemsworth plays one of the friends, a man who initially hopes to be a cop but joins an armored car company after losing out on that dream, while Angarano plays the man with the plan in the movie. The emotionally charged trailer for the flick makes it look like it could be worth a watch, and you don’t even need to leave the comfort of your own couch to catch it.
The above segment is from one of several bonus features available with the Blu-ray and DVD sets of the film, which will also include deleted scenes, audio commentary with Montiel, and cast interviews. Blu-ray copies will retail for only $24.99 and DVD copies list at $19.98. You can pre-order those sets over at Amazon, or check the film out on VOD today.
