With Sicko, Michael Moore finally abandoned at least some of his ambush propaganda tactics to deliver a well-thought out, entertaining, and affecting documentary about one of the most important, if not the most important, issue facing Americans today. As a reward for returning to the smart and insightful style that worked so well on his television show TV Nation, his masterful documentary was largely overlooked by most major awards. Sure it made a lot of money, but Michael Moore loves the spotlight, and you need award wins to get up on stage.

So maybe it should come as no surprise that Moore is returning to the same tired old tricks which earned him his notoriety in the first place. Paramount Vantage and Overture Films announced today that they will co-finance Moore’s next film, a sequel to Fahrenheit 9/11. Brace yourself for more overbearing propaganda.

The film is as of yet, untitled, and we don’t know the specifics of what it’ll be about, except that it’s an F911 followup. Officially there’s no release date for it yet either, but you’ve got to expect that he’s going to try and time this thing to coincide with the upcoming elections, the way he did with the last one. The only question here is whether anyone cares anymore. I’m not even sure Moore does. He recently endorsed Barack Obama for president, but his endorsement was less than ringing and his tone was that of a man who seemed, as so many Americans do, utterly defeated and depressed by the quagmire that is the American political process. Apparently he has enough energy left in him for a Fahrenheit 9/11 2, but will anyone be interested in seeing it?
