The Fast & Furious 7 Trailer Is Here, And It Is Spectacular
All roads lead to this. Universal dropped the first trailer for the wildly anticipated Furious 7, the continuation of the muscle-car soap opera which encountered far too many obstacles on the path through production but is not revving up all engines in preparation for its April 3, 2015 release date.
By now, the troubles of James Wan’s Furious 7 have been well documented. The loss of franchise Founding Father Paul Walker dealt a devastating blow to the Fast & Furious family, with many – including Walker’s "brother in arms," Vin Diesel – wondering if they’d be able to finish the work that they started. Wan used multiple movie-making tricks to complete Walker’s contributions to Furious 7, and as you can see in the trailer above, they did more than enough to make sure that the series continues… at least for one more adventure.
"Just when you didn’t think it could get any better," Paul Walker states in this action-packed trailer, leading into a massive car stunt involving the main cast dropping out of an airplane and using parachutes to land their muscle cars. Think that’s the end? Then you’ve never seen a Fast & Furious movie. By the end of the stunt, Dom (Vin Diesel) and his crew have used hooks to pull the back off of a bus, then Brian (Paul Walker) pulls off a rescue mission on a sliding bus that… oh, just stop reading and watch it 100 more times!
So what happens in Furious 7? As Dom notes, the "sins of London" have followed the crew home, and Ian Shaw (newcomer Jason Statham) is coming after the Fast team to seek vengeance for the murder of his little brother, Owen. The gang’s now being hunted, and Dom claims that it’s "one last ride."
But will it be? Granted, it’s going to be very difficult for Vin Diesel to continue the Fast franchise without his best mate, Paul Walker. But the rumors around the start of this film was that it was going to trigger at least a fresh new trilogy. That mood might have shifted, though, once Paul Walker passed away. No matter what this movie makes, it might be the last ride for the lucrative, adrenalized series.
Furious 7 stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese, Jason Staham, Ludacris and Jordana Brewster. It will be in theaters on April 3, 2015.
