Fifty Shades Of Grey Casts Rita Ora To Play Mia

If you were wondering if Christian Grey’s sister Mia was going to make an appearance in the feature adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, the answer is evidently yes, as singer/actor Rita Ora has been cast to play the role. As we reported earlier today, Fifty Shades of Grey just went into production this week.
Variety reported the casting news, stating that Ora will play Christian Grey’s adoptive sister, Mia, in the feature adaptation of E.L. James’ popular romance novel. All three of the Grey siblings are adopted, including Christian and his brother Elliot (Luke Grimes). In the book, Mia’s in her early twenties and is upbeat and friendly. My brain tends to mash all three of the Fifty Shades books together, so it's hard to be sure, but I don't remember there being a lot of Mia in the first book. However, throughout the trilogy she does eventually form a friendship with the story’s protagonist Anastasia Steele, and it seems we’ll see her introduced in the movie. It’ll be interesting to see how Ora takes on the character.
Born in Yugoslavia but raised in London, Ora’s been on the rise as a musician in recent years, with hit songs that include "R.I.P.," "How We Do (Party)" and a featured credit on DJ Fresh’s "Hot Right Now." On the acting side, the 23-year-old’s credits are a bit more limited, confined to just a handful of parts, but you may have spotted her for a quick appearance in Fast & Furious 6, in which she starts off a race:
We shared a photo from the set earlier today, which teases the start of production. The film was originally supposed to be released next August, but due to delays following Charlie Hunnam’s exit from the cast and Jamie Dornan’s casting as Christian Grey, the film’s release date has since been moved to February 13, 2015. Among the cast, Ora joins Dornan, Dakota Johnson, Luke Grimes, Eloise Mumford and Victor Rasuk, as well as the recently cast Max Martini, who will play Taylor, the head of Christian Grey’s security team.
