Finders Keep-ers
Sometime in the late 90s early 2000s, the thriller genre was diluted to Ashley Judd-starring, cheap-o thrills. Given the shrouded secrecy of the plot of "The Keep," a novel by Jennifer Egan, it doesn't seem like a film adaptation would pull the genre out of its cheese. Rogue Pictures picked up the Ehren Kruger's adaptation anyway for a tasty seven figures, according to Variety, so hopefully it's worth it.
While amazon would tell you that the novel is about a man who invites his distant cousin to renovate an old German castle, Variety is reporting that the thriller script involves a mysterious prisoner who seduces a local woman with his story of the supernatural that can transform her life. That's one hell of an adaptation. More details as the project moves forward, but fans of the novel, be forewarned.
