First 24 Minutes Of Scanner Darkly Online
It's a sign that executives might be starting to panic a little about A Scanner Darkly's success in theaters. In an unprecedented move Warner Indepedent has released the first 24 minutes of the movie for the internet public to watch.
I suppose, in keeping with the theme of the film, they're trying to get you hooked on the movie with this freebie so that you'll come back to pay the outrageous price of a theater ticket to see the rest. It just might work.
I, for one, was more entranced by the animation than anything. Not so much because it's good, as it it's unique and fascinating. Acutally, I had to rewind once or twice to relisten to the dialogue because I was so distracted by a bit of interesting animation. Go figure.
You can check out the clip by clicking here. The film is rated "R" so you'll have to confirm your age as over 18. Of course, all you have to do is give your birthday so it's not exactly hard to get past if you're underage. Unless you're unable to figure out the birthday of someone over 18, which might not be so unlikely for our not so bright upcoming generation (yes, I'm looking at you fans of She's The Man and Aquamarine).
If you have an aversion to creepy crawlies you might want to brace yourself for the first few minutes. Rory Cochrane finds himself covered in little (and no so little) animated aphids for the better part of three mintues. Enjoy!
