First Look At Jeremy Renner In The Bourne Legacy, Plus He Gets A Name
Ever since it was announced that Matt Damon would not be returning for The Bourne Legacy, Universal Pictures has done its best to stress the fact that the lead character in the new film is NOT Jason Bourne. Instead, it will be a whole new character that is experiencing adventures in the same world as Bourne. The film is set to come out later this year with the always-awesome Jeremy Renner in the lead role and an amazing supporting cast that includes Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Joan Allen and Albert Finney (the last two should provide continuity with the three previous films). But while we've known all of this about the new action flick for months, one question has gone unanswered: what is the main character's name?
Empire has the answer. Sitting down to speak with Renner himself, the magazine was able to get a few details about The Bourne Legacy, including who the twice Oscar-nominated actor will be playing. "My character is called Aaron Cross, but he ends up having a bunch of different names," Renner said. He also promised that the new film will have the same thrills as the original trilogy, only with some alterations. Said Renner, "For fans of the franchise, [The Bourne Legacy] has that same ticking clock, but it's a new programme and new characters."
Adding to the Bourne Legacy news, USA Today has published our first look at Aaron Cross. You can scope it out below and see the full image over at the source.
The new film, due out on August 3rd, is written and directed by Tony Gilroy. To read more about it, head on over to our Blend Film Database.
