First Photos From The Captain America Set

Marvel has begun filming on their next superhero project, Captain America, and that means photos have already started leaking off the set. What makes these particularly exciting is that this is the first of the modern crop of superhero movies which is also a period movie. Captain America will be set during and around World War II. That might seem confusing since we know Captain America will be in The Avengers and The Avengers will be set in the modern day, but not if you’re familiar with the character’s history. Cap is a man lost in time and it’s a safe bet that by the end of this first film he’ll be frozen away somewhere, waiting to unthaw in the modern day. Before that though, we’ll get to see what superheroes might have looked like in the past, for the first time ever on screen.

The images below come from WENN where you can see 26 more of them. They were taken during the filming of a scene in London’s Trafalgar square and, as you’ll be able to tell quite obviously, they’re shooting a crowd shot celebrating the end of the war. The date on the newspapers being held up tells the tale. Take a look:
