Will The First Star Wars Stand Alone Film Be About Yoda?
Ever since Disney bought LucasFilm last year there has been speculation that the studio would want to do a lot more than just another film trilogy. We've regularly heard whispers around the internet about possible "spin-off" movies set within the Star Wars universe that would tie to the story of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo.First there was rumor regarding Zack Snyder making a sci-fi version of Seven Samurai (that his representatives totally denied), and today we have another story floating around.
According to Harry Knowles over at AICN not only is Disney and LucasFilm indeed working on side projects, the first among them will center on Yoda. Any other details about the potential project don't seem to exist - by the site's own admission - and it's unclear exactly when a Yoda story would be set in the timeline we all know. The site throws out the possibility that it could be based around old Yoda or even possibly when the character was younger.
This rumor - and I want to put extra emphasis on the word "rumor" - sparks two avenues of conversation. A) Would you be interested in a completely Yoda-centric feature (young or old)? and B) if the studio is in fact making single character stories, who would you want to see get their own movie. Robert Rodriguez has said he would be game for a Han Solo feature and I'm sure there are thousands of fans out there who would kill to see Boba Fett get his own time in the spotlight.
