Flash!!...AH AH
Director Stephen Sommers has given Universal’s Monsters a facelift in recent years. After two Mummy films and the abysmal Van Helsing, it seems Sommers has his sights on another Universal property to remake.
Along with producing partner Bob Ducsay, Sommers is currently prepping a new Flash Gordon. Sommers is writing the script but is not presently attached to direct. Ducsay said "We're in the process of developing it. It in fact is actually going back to a lot more of the original source material for Flash and is not based on the 1980 movie. And tonally, as sort of broad entertainments as the films we make are, clearly we haven't ever worked at that level of camp. So we're not moving in that direction at all. There's all kinds of material. There's comics. There's serials. So all of those things provide source material." Basically he’ll screw this one up too, he’s just giving us a heads up.
No word yet on when the Queen-less Flash Gordon will go into production, or who will star in.
