Fox Digs Reckless Behavior
Has marriage become as obsolete as VHS tapes? Studies show that about 50% of marriages end in divorce, and that doesn't even count all the couples who can't stand each other. The media pumps out one popular movie and tv show after another, detailing the collapse of marital bliss. But yet day after day, we succumb to the trend and exchange vows with tears in our eyes. Why bother when statistics show our chances of lasting are slim?
It's simple-- we're all mushy, teary-eyed optimists at heart. Even those of you who would shudder at such a label. You know you are.
Another movie about marriage going down the crapper is Shane Salerno's Reckless, picked up by Twentieth Century Fox. According to Variety, the sexual thriller is about a 30-something couple whose marriage is flailing, so they start playing a dangerous game to increase the heat. A little Naked Twister never hurt anyone.
Executive producer Craig Fanning and writer Shane Salerno are longtime friends and have been planning the project for years. "Shane's complaint (five years ago) was, "Where's the 'Fatal Attraction' for my generation?" Fanning told Variety. "And I thought, he's right: it just needs to be targeted at the MTV demo.
Wouldn't Swimfan fit that bill pretty perfectly? Granted that movie sucked, but I'm not spotting anything original or creative about the storyline of Reckless. I suppose the world just can't get enough of couples fighting, stalking, and tearing each other to shreds. I think I'll pass and go home to cuddle with my boyfriend.
