Amelia is a thing of the past. Fox Searchlight will reteam with Hilary Swank to distribute her film Betty Anne Waters. The drama comes from the folks at Omega Entertainment and is helmed by Tony Goldwyn.

The film is based on the true story of a single mother struggling to put herself through law school so she can represent her brother who has been wrongfully accused of murder and robbery and sentenced to life behind bars. Swank leads the cast, which also includes Sam Rockwell in the role of her brother, Minnie Driver as her friend from law school and Melissa Leo as the cop trying to convict Betty Anne’s brother. Juliette Lewis, Peter Gallagher and Ari Graynor round out the roster.

According to THR, Betty Anne Waters will hit theaters sometime in the fall. Now that the distribution issue is settled, hopefully we’ll be seeing some material from the film soon. Between the stirring source material and the impressive cast, how could this not be good? Er – I guess Amelia proved anything is possible. Regardless, hopes are high for this one.
