George Lopez Can't Be Stopped
George Lopez is an unstoppable success machine. His TV series may have been cancelled, he may be completely unfunny, but it’s not keeping him from jumping right over to getting rich making feature films. The Hollywood Reporter says he has no fewer than two films on the horizon, and they can’t both be bad, can they?
The first is the Luke Wilson dramedy Henry Poole is Here, which we’ve reported on before sans Lopez. The movie stars Wilson as a man with only six weeks to live. He quits everything and goes into seclusion, has a breakthrough, and gets interrupted by his neighbors. Lopez joins the cast to play a priest.
The second is Vote. If you’ve been paying attention to our news coverage, you know that’s the movie about a voting crisis in which the country’s presidency will be decided by a single voter. Already in the film are Kelsey Grammer, Dennis Hopper, Nathan Lane, and Stanley Tucci. Add Georgie-boy to that as a TV station manager in the small town under fire from the wheels of our political process.
So it’s nothing but good news for George. He’s getting movies, and movies which may not suck. I may not think he’s funny, but at least he’s making smart career choices. I mean, it’s not like he’s co-starring in Daddy Day Camp 3 or something. Well done George.
