Get Lost On DVD!
We don’t spend a lot of time covering DVD here in the news section… because we barely manage to cover theatrical news. Day jobs. Ain’t they a bitch?
But, I’ll do just about anything to have a chance to pimp “Lost” the best show on TV. If you haven’t been watching it, shame on you. However, some of you who aren’t watching it are simply holding out for the DVD. I can forgive you. That’s actually a pretty good idea. If there was ever a television show ideally suited for the format, “Lost” is it. ABC agrees.
According to TV Guide, they’ll be rushing a “Lost Season 1” DVD onto shelves in September, a few weeks before Season 2 hits the airwaves. That’s great news for anyone who missed it on the tube, since you can catch up in time to join the rest of us in slobbering all over their second season on the island. No more excuses, time to sit yourself down on the couch.
Besides throwing the show down on a pack of discs, they’ll be giving us all an avalanche of extras, enough to make people like me, who’ve been there for every second of Season 1 to buy it as well. “Lost” co-creator Damon Lindelof is touting commentaries, deleted scenes between Locke and Hurley (why them specifically?), Sawyer and Charlie and Locke and Walt, as well as “making of” footage that’ll knock our little island bound socks off.
But wait, there’s more! Also included may be a mini-movie made specially for the DVD set to answer fans questions about why the plane crashed! Was it Walt’s latent psychic powers? Hurley’s excessive weight? Did Kate’s hotness totally distract the pilot? Maybe we’ll finally find out. Better still, it’ll be dirt freakin cheap. Unlike those horrendously priced “Farscape” sets I’m always complaining about, Disney’s “Lost” DVD set may go for as little as $39.95!
Sounds almost too good to be true. If they’re smart, they’ll also include the bit Jimmy Kimmel did Wednesday night with the cast and crew. I’m going to be very busy in September. Get Lost.
