Get Your Best Look At Godzilla Yet

We've now seen two full theatrical trailers for Gareth Edwards' Godzilla, and yet still neither of them have given us a full look at the titular monster, constantly covering most of his body with billows of smoke and/or buildings. This could be chalked up to the fact that the visual effects teams haven't finished the CGI just yet and want to make sure that the big beast looks absolutely perfect before being shown to audiences, but now at the very least we know that keeping Godzilla in the shadows is not purely a marketing ploy. Empire magazine has unveiled another cover for their new Godzilla-themed issue, and as you can see above it's the best look we've had at the eponymous creature yet.

No, it's not a full body shot, but it does at the very least give us a perfectly lit view of the monster's face and body. Before now our best look was this closing shot from the last trailer, which is at a pretty odd angle, has a lot of obstructions and is - once again clouded by smoke:

Godzilla

Those of you who have been following the Godzilla news this week know that this is actually one of two Empire covers designed for the latest issue. This one is a more limited collectors edition, so if you're a die hard Godzilla fan and you see one on your local newsstand you might want to pick it up.

Godzilla Poster

Based on a script by Max Borenstein, the new Godzilla film sees the titular King of the Monsters return to the big screen for the first time since Roland Emmerich gave the story a whirl back in 1998. The movie features a fantastic cast that includes Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Sally Hawkins, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe and David Strathairn. In case you missed them, you can watch both of the previously released trailers below.

Godzilla will be in theaters on May 16th.
