Get Your First Look At DreamWorks Animation's Me And My Shadow
While live-action/CGI animation hybrid movies - such as The Smurfs, Yogi Bear and Alvin and the Chipmunks - are almost universally horrible, the upcoming DreamWorks animation film Me & My Shadow has a similar idea but actually sounds amazing. Instead of mixing CGI with live-action, it instead will combine it with 2D, hand-drawn animation like the films of old. Sadly, it was recently reported that we won't be seeing the movie for a while, as the studio has made Mr. Peabody and Sherman more of a priority. But that doesn't mean it will disappear from our radar. In fact, today we have the first piece of art from the movie.
Though the film won't be coming out until spring of 2014, the official Facebook page for Me & My Shadow has launched the first image and first look at the main characters from the project. Check it out below and read on after to find out what it's all about.
Set to feature the voices of Bill Hader, Josh Gad and Kate Hudson, the movie is about a shadow named Stan who dreams of a life of adventure, but is forced to stick around with Stanley Grubb, a timid, humdrum guy who prefers the quiet life. That all changes, however, when a threat in the shadow world could mean the end for Stan and Stanley, leading Stan to take things over. Alessandro Carloni, who served as head of story for How To Train Your Dragon and was an animation supervisor on Kung Fu Panda 2, is helming the project, which will be released on March 14, 2014.
