New Ghostbusters Image Gives Us First Look At Chris Hemsworth

While much has been made of the new team of Ghostbusters that will star in Paul Feig's female-fronted reboot, they are not the only ones taking on roles that previously played by another gender. In both of the original films the Ghostbusters were ably assisted by their harried office manager, Janine Melnitz, played by Annie Potts. Thor star Chris Hemsworth will take over that role for the new Ghostbusters, and now we have the first image of what his character looks like.

While Chris Hemsworth has become best known for his roles in action movies, he’s been trying his hand at comedy recently, with a role in last year’s Vacation reboot. The mere thought of Hemsworth as a frustrated and overworked office manager, similar to his predecessor, is a funny place to start all by itself. Although, since we don’t really expect any of the new Ghostbusters to simply be replacements for the originals, Hemsworth’s character, Kevin, could turn out to have a very different personality. The picture, provided by the @GBNewsdotcom Twitter feed, doesn’t really give the impression of somebody with too many phones to answer. We know the Ghostbusters office isn’t quite as new in this film as it was in the original, so maybe Kevin has this office running efficiently.

In addition to the new shot of Chris Hemsworth, we’ve also received a full set of images of each of the new Ghostbusters as well. While much has been made of seeing the new team in their ghostbusting threads, these images show us what the heroines will all look like when they’re off the clock.

As with Chris Hemsworth, we’re left to project our own ideas for what these characters will be like based solely on their appearance. We know that in the new script Melissa McCarthy’s character is the new Ghostbusters team leader, though most of the film will follow Kristen Wiig, a former professor who joins the team after being disgraced for her belief in the supernatural. We know very little about how Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon's characters will fit into the mix, but they still look great and we can’t wait to learn more.

We expect great things when Thor answers the phones at Ghostbusters HQ. Is anybody else looking forward to to a scene where the God of Thunder fills the building with his voice when he shouts, "We got one!" or is it just me?

Ghostbusters hits theaters July 15.
