Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 To Be Written And Directed By James Gunn
James Gunn has been adamant while doing press for Guardians of the Galaxy that he’d love to tell more stories in this universe, with the characters he worked hard to introduce to Marvel fans. Now, it sounds like he’s going to get the chance.
The Wrap reports that James Gunn will return to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy 2, as confirmed by Gunn’s writing partner, Nicole Perlman. She says:
Marvel did not confirm on the story. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has not officially been announced, and it was believed that the studio was waiting to see how the initial film did at the box office before revealing a sequel. But knowing that Marvel now has at least eight release-date slots open between now and 2019, it’s safe to assume that a second Guardians adventure will be on the docket.
Could it also be the Avengers / Guardians team up that Gunn was teasing with certain media outlets? Could it be the Hulk / Guardians crossover that has been speculated? There are so many irons in Marvel’s fire, there are millions of different directions Guardians of the Galaxy 2 could go.
We expect a lot of details pertaining to Marvel Studios’ Phase 3 to be confirmed on Saturday, when the company takes over Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con. In the meantime, see Guardians of the Galaxy when it opens next Friday. We hear that it’s pretty damn good.
