Guttenberg, Oteri, And Fox Join Jessica Simpson
In an attempt to corner the so last decade market, producers of the film Major Movie Star have signed Vivica A. Fox, Steve Guttenberg, and Cheri Oteri. A lot of industry insiders have been chastising these hirings; however, I think it’s a genius marketing strategy. If Guttenberg could put asses in the seats during a few years in the 1980s, why doubt him now? In a completely unrelated story, I can’t figure out why my fantasy baseball team of Shoeless Joe Jackson, Ty Cobb, and Lou Gehrig isn’t producing as I’d hoped. If a trio of players eighty years past their prime can’t dominate today’s landscape, it really makes you wonder who can.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox will play a balls-to-the-wall training officer, while Guttenberg and Oteri will play a miffed agent and a starry eyed private, respectively. The general plot outline follows a Hollywood vixen (Jessica Simpson), who finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her with men and her accountant cousin is stealing her loot. Naturally, Simpson’s only logical course of action is to enlist in the army reserves much to the chagrin of her conniving agent (Guttenberg).
I normally avoid Jessica Simpson like a rabies infested racoon, but I don’t know if I can let myself miss out on some hot, sexy Steve Guttenberg action. After all, the man was brilliant, some would even say Clark Gable-esque, in the cheeky Olsen twins romp It Takes Two. Plus, he made me laugh out loud once during Police Academy. In the end, his manly allure and the promise of memories from yesteryear, may be too strong to keep me away.
