Hanks Makes A Big Fat Career Change
Nia Vardalos was huge, for about five minutes. Then she made a horrible movie about a woman playing a man playing a woman and everyone forgot she was to blame for the Napoleon Dynamite of 2002, My Big Fat Greek Wedding. John Heder, this is your future.
But the weird looking gyro lover isn’t over yet. Variety say Vardalos is working with Tom Hanks. She’s been tapped to write the movie Talk of the Town for Universal and Hanks’ label Playtone. The movie casts Tom as a man forced into an unexpected career change. Presumably there’s more to it than just that. Possibly trannies. Or not.
Nia’s got more to do though. She’s also signed up to write a movie for Revolution Studios called I Hate Valentines Day. When asked why she agreed to take the job she said, “I liked the title.”. That wasn’t all she said, but if you just take that part and ditch the rest of her sentence it makes her look really bad. Here’s the rest of her sentence, which makes her look slightly less dumb: “…and I wanted to explore the concept of this contrived holiday and what happens when romance is forced on us.” She’ll star in I Hate Valentines Day as well as write it.
Also on Nia’s horizon are a lot more movies with great titles. She’ll appear in Living in Neon Dreams as a Duchess opposite Marilyn Manson who plays the Queen of Hearts (seriously) and A Wilderness of Monkeys which she’s writing.
