Harrison Ford's Fantastic Warning To The Actors Fighting To Play Young Han Solo
While Harrison Ford is getting prepped to dust off his character of Indiana Jones, he’s officially done with his other major franchise role, that of Han Solo. The character, however, will be back. A new actor is currently being cast to play a young Han Solo in a new stand alone movie. Harrison Ford has some advice for that young man, whoever he may turn out to be. Run away.
Harrison Ford made a surprise appearance on Ellen where the host asked him about the plan for there to be a "new" Han Solo. Ellen Degeneres asked Ford if he had any advice for the actor that is eventually cast. Ford planted his tongue firmly in his cheek, and then gave his response.
They just let you go, after three decades or so. Yeah, that must be tough. Harrison Ford’s comments are humorous on a number of levels, not the least of which is the fact that the actor didn’t see his character killed off against his will. Ford wanted to see Han Solo die at the end of the original trilogy, and based on comments that he’s made, it’s clear he didn’t have any problem seeing it happen this time around.
As Ellen Degeneres alludes, the role of the young Han Solo is one of the most sought after in Hollywood. Lucasfilm reportedly sorted through literally thousands of headshots looking for the right actor. The short list is reportedly down to at least four actors. The Young Han Solo movie is currently set for a summer 2018 release, so expect to hear about the choice sooner rather than later, so that the project has enough to time to get ready for an early 2017 filming schedule. Check out Ford’s complete comments below.
The truly honest moment is when Ellen tells Harrison Ford that a lot of people want to play the role and the actor says he’s flattered. He does realize what an icon he made of that character that made so many want to follow in his footsteps. Now we’ll just have to wait and see if they can do him justice.
