Here Comes Silent Hill 2

Even the video game franchise’s most hardcore fans have mostly been forced to admit that Silent Hill wasn’t exactly great as a movie. Yet despite that, it made money. Enough money for the film’s director Christophe Gans to start planning a sequel.

Our friends over at FilmStalker have picked up and translated an interview from dvdrama in which Gans talks about his future plans, plans that include a Silent Hill 2.

Gans plans to bring back screenwriter Roger Avery too, and he’ll potentially get to work on the script once he finishes his current project, another video game adaptation called Drive. Whether or not Gans and Avery come back though, it sounds like the project is going ahead. They will keep the visual style of the previous movie, no matter what they do with it or who is running it.

But does anyone want a Silent Hill 2? Silent Hill fans are a rabid bunch, and even though most of them aren’t hot on the first movie I’m sure they’ll be behind another one. And besides, it doesn’t take much to make money off a horror movie these days. It’s a booming business, and no matter what kind of a piece of crap your movie is, as long as it’s a horror flick greasy teenagers will show up with their girlfriends.
