Here's How Batman V Superman Will Begin, According To Henry Cavill

While most of the details of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice are still unclear, we just learned a little bit about Bruce Wayne’s motivations to take the fight to Superman. Now the Man of Steel himself, Henry Cavill, has opened up a little about the prologue that will open the movie and how that drive will be handled.

In a story from Total Film (via SuperHeroHype), Cavill says the film will open with a replay of the Battle of Metropolis that ended Man of Steel. However, this time we will see it all unfold from the perspective of Bruce Wayne. As one of Wayne’s buildings begins to collapse he attempts to save the people inside. This is a scene that we are familiar with as it has been featured prominently in the trailer for the movie. Here’s a shot of Bruce Wayne watching heat vision tear through a building.

And here he is rushing in to try and help.

While the scenes of Metropolis collapsing and an angry Bruce Wayne have been front and center in the current marketing push, the fact that Cavill describes the scenes as a "prologue" implies that we won’t be spending much of the film there. It sounds more like this will all be a pre-title sequence and not part of the proper story. It’s entirely possible that what we see is the trailer is all, or at least nearly all of the sequence.

While we pretty much already knew that this was how the film would begin, it now looks like they’re downplaying these scenes as far as how important they are to the film as a whole. While seeing Batman’s motivation is important, this is probably a good move. Man of Steel was not the most well-received movie, and focusing more on the part that frustrated fans the most is not the best strategy. Show us what we need to know, get it over with, and let’s move on.

Whether you liked or loathed the end of Man of Steel are you looking forward to seeing the scenes from another perspective?
