Here's Jessica Alba In Your Eye
The long gestating American remake of the Hong Kong thriller The Eye has a new home and a new star. Originally in pre-production over at Paramount, the movie has now been picked up in turnaround by Lionsgate, after Paramount failed to get the movie done.
Variety says Lionsgate is now full steam ahead with the project, and they're in talks with Jessica Alba to star in their new version. Originally, Renee Zellweger had been attached to take on the movie's lead role. But when she lots interest and left the project, so did Paramount, leaving the door open for Lionsgate to step in and hire Alba.
The Hong Kong version of the movie tells the story of an eye transplant recipient who sees strange images in the mirror that lead her on a journey to uncover the fate of her eyeball's previous owner.
Jessica seems to be on her way to making a career out of picking up movies ditched by higher profile Hollywood starlets. Just a few weeks ago she took over for Lindsay Lohan in the movie Bill, after Lohan ditched it in the midst of a fit about working only with high profile directors.
