Hero Blend #26: What Female Thor And The New Captain America Mean For The Marvel Cinematic Universe
While the first 25 episodes of Hero Blend focused solely largely on superhero adaptations both at the movies and on television, this week we’re going back to the source. Marvel has made two huge announcements about a couple of their biggest characters, and it has sent a shockwave through the entire comic book-appreciating world.
I am, of course, referring to the major changes that will be made to both Thor and Captain America later this year. As we reported on Tuesday, the God of Thunder will be undergoing a bit of a gender change, and will now be portrayed as a female character. What’s more, yesterday we learned that with Steve Rogers having all of the Super Soldier Serum removed from his body (turning him into an average 90-year-old man), Sam Wilson – best known to many as Falcon – has stepped up to become the newest version of Captain America. The decisions potentially open up an incredible number of potential narrative opportunities, and we can’t wait to see how they play out on the page. But how could these moves potentially affect the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
To tackle this tough question, I’ve enlisted the help of Cinema Blend’s own Sean O’Connell, who joined me for a recording session this morning to talk about all of the wild moves made by Marvel. Now I’m all done setting the plate, so hit the play button above and enjoy Hero Blend #26!
