After many months of waiting, the Marvel Cinematic Universe made major strides with the future of Spider-Man this week. Not only was it announced that Tom Holland will make his first appearance as the wall-crawler in Joe and Anthony Russo’s Captain America: Civil War next year, but it was also revealed that the 2017 solo film will be made by Jon Watts – the director of the horror movie Clown and the 2015 Sundance hit Cop Car. Obviously this is huge news, but it begs the question: what exactly do we expect from the new Spider-Man movie.
\ Reports have said that the 2017 blockbuster won’t be an origin story, and it’s been said by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige that the film will have a stronger focus on the titular character’s famous sense of humor. But what will being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe mean for the story? How should it handle the character’s romantic life? Who should his first nemesis be?
