Homer Looking For Home Town
For years, the media, along with both casual and obsessive fans, have wondered where the hell Homer Simpson and his dysfunctional family hail from. The short answer is of course, Springfield; however, that only narrows it down to more than ten possible cities. In fact, it seems like every damn state has their own Springfield. In an attempt to ratify this wandering dilemma, Matt Groening and his fellow creators started a USA Today sponsored contest, allowing fans to weigh in.
Each one of the aforementioned possibilities was asked to make a five minute tape detailing exactly why Marge and Lisa live there. The shorts range from the extremely sucky to the mildly amusing to the informative. After all, I should know after devoting over an hour to watching all of them. The videos can be found at USA Today.
The winning city will receive the official hometown preview, and one would imagine, a decent amount of pilgrims sojourning to the newly holy city. They will also gain the exclusive right to mocking the losing Springfields. Schmuck salutatorian cities.
