Homo Erectus Sucked Up By National Lampoon
Good news for Cinema Blend friend Adam Rifkin. Well, sort of. His movie Homo Erectus has finally found a distributor. That’s the good news. The bad news is that it’s National Lampoon.
Apparently they’re branching out from horrible college comedies to potentially funny caveman comedies. At this point though, isn’t the National Lampoon label basically the kiss of death? Isn’t it an admission that, hey this movie belongs straight to video but we’re going to release it in a few dollar theaters anyway? That’s the way it’s been for most of National Lampoon’s recent movies, and Erectus seems like it really deserves better treatment.
Homo Erectus will hit the dollar theaters some time in September, now re-titled as National Lampoon’s Homo Erectus. I can’t help but feel bad for Rifkin. So it’s come to this.
Listen to Rifkin talk about Homo Erectus with us back in March here to find out why his movie may have deserved better.
