Hope Springs Will Journey On To Blu-ray in December
Hope Springs hit theaters at a weak period in the box office in August, when audiences were still sticking around to catch leftover July flicks like The Dark Knight Rises. Still, the film was a modest success, bringing in over $92 million worldwide. If you missed the relationship-based tale, which stars Tommy Lee Jones and Meryl Streep, you’ll be able to catch the film when it hits Blu-ray and DVD on December 4.
Hope Springs was marketed as a romantic comedy about a couple attempting to mend their relationship after it grows stagnant by attending couples therapy with a renowned marriage counselor, played by Steve Carell. While funny in moments, the film takes a few serious turns. It’s a movie about living and learning, and while hopeful, it isn’t as wholly uplifting as the previews would have you expect.
Still, as someone who is barely into the marriage stage of her own relationship, I still found plenty of moments where I related with Tommy Lee Jones and Meryl Streep’s older (and wiser in some aspects) characters. If you did enjoy the film, you may be happy to note there will be plenty of extras with the set including commentary, alternate takes, and several featurettes. Although, Hope Springs is not really the type of film that needs a lot of behind-the-scenes footage to get its message across, so we’ll have to wait and see how interesting the extras actually prove to be.
