Hudson Hates Dupree

A few weeks ago we brought you the news that the Butterscotch Stallion had signed up for something that sounds a lot like it might once have starred vanished comedian Sinbad, a movie about an unwanted houseguest. Well according to Production Weekly the rest of the You, Me, and Dupree cast is quickly filling out with the hiring of Kate Hudson.

Hudson will presumably be put to work playing the film’s blushing bride Molly Peterson, in the story of a newlywed couple with a friend they just can’t get out of their house. Because they are newlyweds. You know what newlyweds do. Yes, I’m talking about lots of sex. Crazy sex. Because they can’t help it.

Though you’ve got to wonder, with the prevalence of living together before marriage, does wedding night sex really mean that much anymore? I mean, would a houseguest really interfere all that much with the sex life of a modern newlywed couple? These days, by the time most modern couples get around to finding a Justice of the Peace (usually because someone forgot to use protection) they’ve had their sexual fill. The comedic opportunities once found in newlywed horniness have receded faster than Kate Hudson’s popularity.

Heedless of the irrelevance of his movie’s premise, Owen Wilson will play Dupree, the source of Molly and her husband’s annoyance. The role of husband Carl Peterson remains uncast, though to me this sounds a lot like another bad comedy that ought to star Ben Stiller.
