Whenever most people hear the name Hugh Laurie, odds are, that person thinks the not-so-nice doctor with a limp, House. Well, Laurie is going beyond TV and stepping onto the big screen in the form of a cockroach, that is Dr. Cockroach Ph.D.. His film effort doesn’t stop with this week’s new release Monsters vs. Aliens. Laurie is actually working to turn a book he’d written called The Gun Seller into a feature film. It’s about a man named Thomas Lang, a former officer of the Scots Guards (a regiment of the Guards Division of the British Army), who gets involved with a group of international arms dealers and subsequently the Ministry of Defense and CIA.

Laurie told Jeffrey Lyons of Reel Talk that after United Artists bought his novel, an immense amount of corporate takeovers halted progress on the project. Although the film may take some time to get off the ground, Hugh assured Jeffrey the plan “still lives and breathes.” Even though The Gun Seller is in no way connected to his hit television series House, the huge Hugh fans the FOX show has attracted will undeniably be in support of the actor’s unrelated endeavors.
