New Hunger Games Mockingjay Teaser Delivers A Crucial Message To Panem

The Mockingjay Lives! And Beetee is awesome. We knew both of those things already, and now the Capitol does too.

Following up on the previously released "Capitol TV" teaser, which revealed Donald Sutherland's President Snow offering a gentle (creepy) warning (threat) to Panem not to rebel against the government, comes this latest video, which puts Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) back at Snow's side and brings Johanna Mason (Jena Malone) into the picture. Snow delivers a speech about how unified Panem is, and how the the Capitol and the districts are bound together in solidarity... until the tech-savvy tribute Beetee Latier's voice crackles in, and then his face comes into view. The rebels have hacked into the Capitol's feed, and they have a message. The Mockingjay Lives!

It's an exciting tease and a great nod to the source material. Mockingjay is the final book in Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy, though the film will be split into two movies, the first of which will make its way into theaters November 21. While the previously released Capitol TV teaser attempted to maintain the illusion of peace, and the posters illustrated the harsh reality of life in the districts, this new teaser reminds us that a rebellion is underway. Much to the Capitol's dismay, there are people in the districts who aren't going to take it anymore, the Mockingjay included.

Hopefully the next teaser video will give us a look at Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen all made up as the titular Mockingjay, ready to inspire and lead the districts in the fight against the Capitol. In the meantime, in absence of Katniss's candid reaction to Snow's words, Johanna's body language is sending its own message...
