Will.I.Am Talks About Playing The Texan Nightcrawler
Hey, just in case you forgot, that Wolverine movie is still happening. Does it really count as a superhero movie though, if it isn’t going to have a Tony Stark cameo?
Rapper turned actor Will.I.Am thinks it does. He has inexplicably been cast in the movie, and he’s talking about what’s up with MTV. In their interview, he reveals what kind of character he’ll play in the film. He says, “I'm a teleporter. ... I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere. Boom, boom, boom!” Hey that sounds cool! Wait, didn’t we already have that character? Oh yes, I think he was named Nightcrawler and played by Alan Cumming, who I think we’re fairly safe in pronouncing a million times better at “acting” than a random guy from the Black Eyed Peas could ever hope to be.
Will.I.Am isn’t playing Nightcrawler though. He’s more like Nightcrawler with a southern drawl and without any of the things that made the character good. Will explains, “My character's name is John Wraith. He's a black Texan. He's not a cowboy, but his gear suggests that he is. He's just a badass who'll whoop your ass.” So he’s one of them fake cowboys, the kind of jerk who walks around in a cowboy hat for no other reason than that he thinks it’ll get him chicks… or something. Well, I hate him already.
From the sounds of it, Will’s character is a pretty substantial one in the film. In the interview, he talks about being banged up from fight scenes and generally having absolutely no idea what he’s doing in front of a camera. Comforting. Wolverine is really going to be an awesome movie.
