What does a grandfather and ex-skateboarder do when evil policemen and lairds threaten an illegal fugitive named Bessie Boo? Team up with Gordon the Goat (Alan Cumming) and try to save the day of course. Okay, you think I’m crazy, right? No, this is really the plot of Sean Connery’s animated film Sir Billi. Check out the official synopsis for yourself:

When tragedy strikes in the Scottish Highlands, there can be only one man for the job - Sir William Sedgewick, aka Sir Billi (Sir Sean Connery)! An adventure story about an inimitable Highland hero - a grandpa and active senior skateboarding veterinarian who goes above and beyond the call of duty fighting villainous policemen and powerful lairds in a battle to save an illegal fugitive - Bessie Boo the beaver!

You can even get a look at that wacky gang for yourself in these images from Collider. Clearly this is no Pixar or DreamWorks film, but for an indie animation the imagery doesn’t look half bad. Can Connery actually make this crazy tale sensible enough for moviegoers? He thinks so. “Sir Billi is truly a first class film, with an exceptional cast, and is sure to delight audiences of all ages.” Glasgow Animation has just begun the post-production process and expects to complete the film by the summer, but a release date has yet to be announced.
